Die Erbschaft ist ein Kurzfilm von und mit Karl Valentin. Der 1882 geborene Karl Valentin (eigentlich Valentin Ludwig Fey) ist bekannt für seinen dialektischen Humor, insbesondere seine Sprachkunst. Er beeinflusste zahlreiche Künstler nach ihm wie Bertolt Brecht, Samuel Beckett, Loriot, Gerhard Polt und Helge Schneider. Seine Stücke scheinen dem Dadaismus und dem Expressionimus nahe zu stehen.
