Handlung von The Hate U Give
Starr Carter (Amandla Stenberg) steht zwischen zwei Welten: Ihre Familie lebt in einer armen, vor allem von Schwarzen bewohnten Nachbarschaft, ihre Vorstadt-Schule wird jedoch größtenteils von weißen Wohlstandskindern besucht. Bislang konnte Star die Balance zwischen diesen so unterschiedlichen Umfeldern ganz gut halten, doch dann sieht sie mit an, wie ihr bester Freund aus Kindheitstagen, Khalil (Algee Smith), von einem weißen Polizisten erschossen wird. Plötzlich wird Druck von allen Seiten auf die Jugendliche ausgeübt und Starr erkennt, dass sie inmitten des Aufruhrs versuchen muss, ihre eigene Stimme zu finden. (ES)
